TLS for XMPP

Hi folks,
I see that Tsung 1.4.1 does not have support for testing XMPP servers that require TLS. Is there any work in progress to add this support? I’d be glad to test out any experimental code.
If not, what would be the way to implement it? I tried adding ‘bidi=“true”’ for the session and looking for <starttls…> in parse_bidi, but that method doesn’t get reliably called for the stream features. It sometimes gets called only for <bind> and sometimes not even for that, but only for and <message> stanzas. Do I need to hook into it somewhere else?

Hi ,

I see that the latest version of Tsung does not have support for testing XMPP servers that require TLS. Is there any work in progress to add this support? Also is there any experimental/sample code for the same
If not, what would be the way to implement it?

Also could you please suggest if there are any other load testing tools which provide this support

Tsung Authentication ERROR

Using Tsung and latest ejabberd 2.1.x, I can connect the users but not authenticate them.

Error on Tsung User Creation

When trying to boot up Tsung, it cannot create the users due an error:

{mod_register, [{ip_access, [{allow, "0.0.0.0/0"}]},
                  {welcome_message, {"Welcome!",
                                     "Welcome to this Jabber server."}},
                  {access, register}

                 ]}, 

I have added the following configuration to find try to find it .
Aleways I get: ”

<error code='500' type='wait'><resource-constraint ><text >Users are not allowed to register accounts so quickly</text></err1>

Unable to use tsung_stats.pl

Hi,

I am trying to do some ejabberd testing with tsung. I have successfully run a test, but am unable to use the tsung_stats perl script to generate reports.

When I try to run it, I get this error:

warn, last interval (0) not equal to the first, use the first one (10)
No data for Perfs
No data for Transactions
No data for Match
No data for Event
No data for Async
No data for Size
size_rcv is equal to 0 !
size_sent is equal to 0 !

Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Customizing Tsung to have the user id’s read from an external file for Jabber/xmpp

Hi,

We are looking to provide a set of user id’s to tsung jabber/xmpp from and external file.

However, as of now, the ts_jabber module only supports a fixed list starting from 1 to userid_max.

I’m currently looking at ts_user_server.erl and its not apparent where we could change to have this functionality?

Is there any recommended way for us to implement this?

Question about Tsung Jabber testing

Hi- I’m attempting to put together a set of benchmarks for Jabber servers, and Tsung is… freaking awesome. Really great.

I have a couple of questions. I would normally open the code but I’m not proficient at Erlang.

The tests I want to perform vary across several use cases, one of which involves the performance degradation after enabling persistent message stores. So I want to include sending a message from user to user.

Can this be used for that purpose:

Would destination be changed to a specific user in my roster, or can I tell it to be “roster”?

Second question.

When I use the presence message, and I put “online” is that going to all online users? Or my online roster? To get a true sense of the impact of presence messages, I would assume that generating a message to no one is pretty useless, so I want to understand how to control the number of people who get the presence notification.

So far I’m getting impressive numbers with Openfire and Tsung on a single machine, but without generating traffic its a bit of an empty benchmark.

Hi,
I am using Tsung 1.3.3 for load testing of my server using HTTP requests.
In my scenario I want no. of users who are not able to proceed due to some delayed response from server.
e.g. out of 100 users, if some users are not able to proceed due to server’ delayed behavior then I need to know how many users were not able to proceed.
How can I achieve this?
Also, I want to stop my test if certain response are not received within certain amount of time, for this I have used <if> clause, is there any other way to do this?
Does Tsung slows down if we use dynamic variable often?
