Hi!

We use ejabberd for our application. It has IM option.
We open a discussion between two users. One of them disconnect due to network problems. The other one continue to send messages like nothing happened. When the former user reconnect, he doesn’t recieve the messages that were sent to him when he was disconnect.

I wonder if the server knew that the client was disconnected, or thought the client was still connected because it didn’t recieve any disconnect notification.

How the server knows if the client is still connected?
