CEAN-1.4 comes with Erlang R12B-4, and brings up many improvements in
the build process. The aim is to reach a production quality level of
autogenerated packages for all erlang contributions. The most valuable
improvements in CEAN-1.4 are:

  * Work in cluster environment. It’s possible to sync CEAN
    installation on several hosts using just one command.
  * A better package dependency resolver. Generated
    dependencies are reliable.
  * Main commands available from bash. No need to join an
    erlang shell to install packages.
  * Lots of new packages.

CEAN also support updated packages for R11B-5. The cluster features are
backported to the R11B version as well.

This release should fix many old pending issues. Please report into that thread if you find some reported errors which are not solved.

Thanks! I’ve been looking around for a best way to install and keep different boxes with the same config. I hope you’re able to continue to keep the CEAN up to date in the future.

i’ve worked hard to make upgrade process almost automatic. this part is to be tested now but should make easyer to keep cean up to date.

it seems there is something wrong with Yaws, i tried to install it but i keep
receiving the same error :

cean:install(yaws). 
! yaws Error: bad archive
error

do you have an idea where it might come from?

yaws support is partial, and archives are not available for windows, mac-ppc and freebsd-x86
i’d love to make yaws available everywhere, starting by windows.
i know nothing about windows, so my question is simple: does yaws beams enough on windows ?
unix requires setuid_drv.so, i don’t have the corresponding .dll for windows, so the packet is not generated, but i think this is useless on windows. can someone confirm ?

I found this about a weak ago trying to get yaws running on windows without cygwin.
I hope this link is useful in getting yaws up and running via cean.

Do you have a chance to update it to the R12B-5 release? It would help me since I understand they put the patch in for HIPE on Mac OS X

yes, i will upgrade to R12B-5 (windows, linux-x86, linux-amd64 and mac only) but not during the 10 comming days.

Ok, is there a plan to offer the upgrade when 13B comes out?  I think they’re planning for late Apr…
