It will be a commercial module, mostly because Apple requires it is tight to OneTeam developer credential. It thus requires a ProcessOne server to hold the private key to use Apple push. The push will go from any ejabberd server to ProcessOne server (through s2s) and then will use OneTeam developer credential to push the message.
The Apple push module for ejabberd will be sold on IMstore this week.

Do you intend to develop a OneTeam module for Openfire as well or will this be exlusive to ejabberd servers?

I want push for Openfire too - but I fear we will neither get an answer nor push notifications for Openfire ever ....

Why no answer ? Too pessimistic ;)

For obvious reasons, we will no write an Openfire module. However, if JiveSoftware would like to partner with us to make this happen, we would be very glad. Ask Jivesoftware to contact us for partnering to make push for Openfire happen.

Push will be available for free if you host your account on Oneteam.im.

We have other approach as well to help people with push on ejabberd, like migration support and assistance for other servers.

You may have noticed that OF is GPL software - ok, Jive is the dirving power behind OF but there are no propiertary patrs left - not so with ejabberd, just look at the gateway plugin ....

For far more obvious reasons, this is no option ....

We have other approach as well to help people with push on ejabberd, like migration support and assistance for other servers.

For most obvious reasons, ejabberd is no option at all ...

Actually, it is not obivous why ejabberd is not an option.

By the way, the limitation of the push mode is due to Apple. You have to embed certificates developer for OneTeam for iPhone to be allowed to push and Apple requires that you control what goes to them and are accountable for what goes to the server with your certificate.

I’m currently using an AIM/ICQ-Gateway along with my Openfire installation. In case there’s a solid tutorial to get the necessary steps done, I’m happy to switch to ejabberd to use OneTeam push notifications.

To be clear about this, my installation is a TINY SERVER. Just a few colleagues, friends and family are on it, so as long as I can easily do it and it doesn’t require a great amount of work, it doesn’t really matter whether I’m running Openfire or ejabberd.

Hello Julian,

We will try to do our best to help you with that.
What type of operating system are you using ?

If you can send me your mail in private message, I will ask a coworker to contact you to help you directly with this.
He will produce a public documentation for migration as a result using your case study.
Does it sounds good ?
