Let me quote a sentence from tweet.im webpage:

Because Twitter does not implement limited credentials feature for clients and gateways, password is essential to control your Twitter account using tweet.IM. When Twitter implements such a feature, we will be the first to use it.

As you may know Twitter does implement such feature - it is called OAuth and it is fully functional.

I really love your service, but it was really hard to give you my password. If only I could avoid it…

So - will you keep your promise and be the first to use OAuth? ;)

Hi

Thanks for the kind words. OAuth is in development and will be available soon. We also see concerns with asking for your password, but until recently there was no other way to connect to Twitter. However we are definitely moving to OAuth.

For now, Twitter has blocked tweet.IM ip address, so Oauth will only comes once this first more major problem is solved.

Will that be OAuth over XMPP (XEP-0235) support?

I do not think that OAuth over XMPP does apply well for this. This covers other needs.
