It is a good idea to have standard behaviors for specific ports (TLS on 5222 and SSL on 5223) but this is preventing me from using this app with my jabber servers at work (SSL on 5222). I hope you can include an ‘advanced settings’ section so that the encryption method and ports can be specified explicitly.

Hello,
why don’t you use starttls on port 5222. Same result and it works.
SSL connection on port 5223 (or on any port) is considered legacy these days.

I agree with you 100% but our IT guys have their own ideas. If your app had a configuration like I suggested I would be able to use it. Thanks in advance.

Yes, but my main problem is to avoid cluttering the application UI with too many options.
We tried to design the application to make the most obvious choices for the user.
This is a mobile app and not a desktop app and this kind of decision matter, I think.

Hi Mickaël. I guess you could put the advanced controls in the ‘Settings’ section, and that way avoid cluttering the application GUI while still allowing some advanced settings. Thanks!

You still have to select which option to put there. You do not want all the option that you have in about:config on Firefox on a mobile client.
I am still not convinced that it will be usefull to more than a couple of users in very specific case, which can be avoided by complying by having more standard deployment.
We will still think if we find an easy way to support this without adding too much options.

Hello again. I have not seen any updates for your app and your messages above indicate that you value technical correctness over flexibility. That is OK and I don’t want to question your decision. I have no choice but to use a different client (http://www.beejive.com/support/iphone/3.1.0/index.htm?s=accounts , see the end of the page) for my iPhone and recommend against using your app to my company. Regards.

My message above simply state that we will think about it.
That said, you you are a free man and you can do what you want and use what suits you.
However, note that the change you request had been scheduled for the next version.

Hello,
Oneteam for iPhone 3.2.3 reached the app store and has the feature you requested.
Cheers,

Hi. Thanks for the ports/ssl config. Unfortunately it still isn’t working. One the same network my laptop connects fine with Adium, but with OneTeam I get the message “Sorry, an unspecified error has occurred.”. I’m connecting to a server with an SSL cert that has been signed by an internal CA. I’ve installed the CA certificate (on phone and laptop), and all SSL/TLS connections that use certificates signed by this CA work fine (Exchange, https, etc) so I don’t think it is a certificate problem. I can’t provide a login to the server, but I think that an external party could at least try to establish a connection to ensure that it works. Server is sim1.ntt.eu, port 5222, legacy SSL.
Thanks,
Len

It works for us, on any port.
What type of server are you using ? ejabberd ? jabberd14 ?

Hi Mickaël,
I don’t know which server it is (I’ll ask), I don’t administer it. When you say that it worked for you, do you mean that you tried to connect to sim1.ntt.eu or that in general 5222/force-old-ssl works for you?
Thanks,
Len

Yes, it works. I tested with your server and it works using legacy SSL (testing from simulator to have the log).
I get the correct reply which is unauthorized as I do not have an account:
2010-02-05 08:52:39.516 OneTeam[19389:4803] SEND: <iq type=“set” id=“ac1900032863d”><query ><username>test</username><digest>F054AC23A5A0F625BF9ABBD27CBEF7F166C03A8A</digest><resource>oneteam-iphone</resource></query></iq>
2010-02-05 08:52:40.486 OneTeam[19389:4803] XML: <iq type=“error” id=“ac1900032863d”><query ><username>test</username><digest sid=“4B6BCE45”>F054AC23A5A0F625BF9ABBD27CBEF7F166C03A8A</digest><resource>oneteam-iphone</resource></query><error code=“401”>Unauthorized</error></iq>
Your problem should be a network problem to access you server from your mobile.

Thanks for the quick reply. I’m on the same (wifi) network as my laptop, which can connect OK, so I don’t think it is a transport problem. Unfortunately I’m a bit stuck and will have to start doing things I hate because they seem like hunting witches… Uninstall, reinstall, etc.

Hi. I waited until there were some updates to see if this works yet, but no luck. I have tried on my iPhone and iPad and I get the same error with both of them.
“Warning, Invalid Jabber-ID or password. Please enter a valid Jabber-ID and password.”
On my desktop it works fine using Adium. All three devices are on the same wifi network, so the only real difference is the client. It is too bad that I’ve never been able to get this software to work correctly.
