Hello. I purchased OneTeam for the iPhone this morning because I’m looking for a direct-connect (no proxy) jabber client that can connect to a corporate jabber server through my iPhone’s VPN connection. I thought I’d found it with OneTeam. But, when I set the connection up, I use the following settings (the same settings I use in desktop clients like Trillian):

Jabber-Id:  .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)
Password:  mypassword

Advanced -> Server:  full.hostname.com
Advanced -> Port:      5223
Advanced -> Resource: iPhone
Advanced -> Priority:  15
Advanced -> Security:  Legacy SSL

When I attempt to connect with these settings I just get “Warning:  Unknown error.” I thought perhaps the VPN wasn’t allowing me to connect to the host but I successfully connected to https://full.hostname.com:5223 through the web browser on the iPhone and got, as expected, a syntax error for malformed XML. The iPhone can see and connect to the jabber server itself over that port through the VPN, but the OneTeam client is somehow failing with the above settings.

Any ideas?

Hey there, have you tried the other Security options in the connection settings?

Our server only supports legacy SSL. I bought the app specifically because it claimed to support this protocol natively.

yes, it does support legacy SSL natively.
Check your configuration in My profile -> Edit -> Advanced.

I’m using the same configuration I use in my desktop client. Is there any way I can get more information than ‘unknown’ from the app?

I’m beginning to suspect a certificate issue, but I have no control over that and I would hope the iPhone app would function similar to the many desktop apps I’ve used to connect successfully to the server in question.

We would need to have an account on your server for testing.
Usually it is a networking problem.
It cannot be a certificate problem as we do not enforce it.

It’s a private jabber server on an internal network. I have to connect through a vpn.

I’ve verified that the vpn on the iPhone is functioning correctly, as from the iPhone I can connect to the server through safari over port 5223 and it spits out XML as expected.

If we cannot connect and get a dump of the service we cannot know what is not compliant on your server.

That’s strange because Safari do not support XMPP but only HTTP. The server would reply in XMPP (thus no HTTP headers) and I do not think Safari should understand it.

When I connect to https://private.server.com:5223 in safari on the iPhone I get a notification telling me that the certificate is invalid and I can choose to accept it. When I accept it gives me a <stream…></stream> XML feed with an xml-not-well-formed message embedded.

Attached some screenshots. One of the error in OneTeam. One of my settings under advanced. One of Safari’s connection to the server over the VPN.
