Hi there, I’m loving the iPad application, current using it with a OneTeam.im account to connect to my MSN account. When I try and connect it to my GTalk account it says “Connecting…” for ages and then fails silently or with an unknown error.

Am I right in thinking I just use my <name>@gmail.com and password for the details?

Obviously I’d prefer to get it all working within the one application rather than have to buy the separate OneTeam for GTalk app as well.

Thanks :)

EDIT: When I attempt to connect OneTeam.im to GTalk using a desktop client (Psi in this case), it informs me xmpp.oneteam.im is offline, will this be remedied soon?

EDIT: I suspect I should be using the Talkr.im service, which allows me to (somehow) connect to the talk.google.com XMPP service, I’ve posted in the right forum about this now, sorry for the confusing nature of the question, getting used to XMPP/Jabber.

Yes, it is definitely a better user experience to have all in one place.

We are looking at what’s wrong with our XMPP gateway on OneTeam.IM. We’ll provide feedback asap.

I have received a confirmation that the XMPP gateway on oneteam.im service is working fine.

Thanks for checking up, I still can’t get my OneTeam.im account to connect to my GTalk (in the OneTeam app it just hangs on ‘Connecting…’ the GTalk account then throws an unknown error).

I can log into the GTalk account when I connect directly to talk.google.com with my client, so that part works for sure. Not sure what else I can even try now :(

Strange, we will check Oneteam code, but it should normally all work fine.

Indeed, when using my desktop client, I can see GTalk/XMPP Gateway in my Service Discovery, but when I ‘Add to Roster’ in PSI I get a status msg saying xmpp.oneteam.im is offline, and if I try and register it just hangs and eventually times out.

It is not the way you do it. You have to use the register feature of the gateway.

Using Register does not work either, I type in my details and click register and then Psi or OneTeam (iPad) tries to register and eventually it fails with no reason

That’s strange because a coworker just did the same and it worked.

Ok, we will check. Maybe Google change something in the way they handle authentication via proxy.

Thanks, sorry I can’t give you more detailed information but I’m getting no error messages.

my oneteam.im account is ‘derekmortimer’ and my gtalk is ‘mrsphinx’ if there are any logs at your side you can check.

We will have a look. It is possible that the problem has been trigger by multiple attempt on your account.

A bit more info, I created a brand new OneTeam.im account and a brand new GTalk account to test whether it was an account related issue but I encountered the same problem when trying to register GTalk through the OneTeam iPad client or the Psi desktop client.

Talkr.im now supports Apple Push, MSN and GTalk, and the GTalk/XMPP gateway is working as you’d expect, switched over to this now.
