I’ve just switched my hosting from Google Apps over to Hosted-im and now all s2s/federation is broken.  I can see Gmail contacts but they can’t see me online.  Other servers I can’t see at all, I get a ‘remote server not found’ error in Gajim.  My DNS SRV records are all correct according to the control panel.  Can someone help please?

Hello,

that question is answered on the hosted.IM FAQ page. Basically, its a Google Apps issue that is covered here.

It’s not just Google Apps though, it’s any other domain.  The problem also happens with your talkr.im service.  I had no problems at all with Google Apps communicating with any domain through Gajim or Pidgin.  The problem is not Google’s or the other servers it’s yours.

So, do you have disabled your XMPP service at Google Apps and still experiencing the same problem?

It’s disabled yes.  Also the DNS SRV records have been updated to remove Google’s XMPP servers and replace them with yours.  Like I said, it’s ANY domain that causes this problem.  With Gmail users I can see them but they can’t see me.  With domains such as lavabit.com, I get error 404 with Pidgin or remote server not found in Gajim.  I use Linux on my desktop.

Just to reflect the status of this thread:

* there was a configuration problem on the DNS from the user, which now I guess it was fixed
* hosted.IM cached an old result, when DNS was reflecting a right configuration, so it didn’t reflect the problem on the DNS

Thanks for your feedback to help us improve the service.

Regards,

Juan Pablo
