Worst application on my ipad

This program frustrates me to no end.

When a new message comes in I get notified, either by push or in the ap, but unless I am actively involved in a chat in that room or with that person I have to toggle back and forth between rooms and channels 5-6 times to coax the new messages to display on the screen.  Sometimes I get push notifications and the message never appears.

On top of that, it locks down my jabber access and won’t let me log into jabber from my PC client quickly.  I have shut my ipad off and wait for some sort of timer to expire on the server.  “Leave chat” does not work.  the program needs an on and off button so I can control its log on/ off with my server.  Isnt there an end session code you can send the server.

I can’t believe I paid $10 for this garbage.

Don’t be too harsh, OneTeam for iPhone indeed a really nice piece of software, stable and fast, well maintained, with a strong XMPP support, with Multi-User Chat, Transports, and a lot of useful features. It is only 5.99 dollars or 4.99 euros, and it’s worth the price.

Anyway, thanks very much for the reports, my replies are below.

It seems like Push messages open the right one-to-one chats, but not the groupchats. Thanks, we’ll fix that.

It seems also that the badge number is only incremented for one-to-one chats, but not for groupchats. We’ll fix that also.

For in-app notifications, or course we won’t open the new message, since we don’t want to interrupt you in your active chat.

Sometimes I get push notifications and the message never appears.

Ah it seems I have the case only in groupchats. We will investigate on this.

On top of that, it locks down my jabber access and won’t let me log into jabber from my PC client quickly.

Your account is “locked” depending on the server policy, and if you reuse the same resource.

I have shut my ipad off and wait for some sort of timer to expire on the server.

Go to “Settings” tab, then “Push Settings”, and set the “Session duration”.

the program needs an on and off button so I can control its log on/ off with my server.  Isnt there an end session code you can send the server.

You can go to “My Profile” tab, and set your status to “Offline”: it quits groupchats and your are shown as offline to all your contacts.

“Leave chat” does not work.

It works for me.

As you can see, these are minor issues, but I understand these are bugging you. Anyway we will fix them. Again, thank you very much for pointing them. You’ve been very helpful, even with a harsh language.

FYI, we are currently working on further strong enhancements to OneTeam for iOS. We will release a new version 4.1 in a few weeks. Stay tuned.

Don’t hesitate if you have some more remarks.

One way I’ve gotten it to allow me to log on from multiple clients is to set the OneTeam ‘nickname’ to myname-iphone. Then on the PC client (Pidgin for example) set your handle to myname-pc. In my case, I’ve been able to visit a MUC room simultaneously on iChat, Pidgin, and OneTeam and have the conversation update on all 3.

(Really i think the ‘nickname’ field in OneTeam should be labeled ‘Handle’ to be more consistent with other apps.)

I think it depends on the server settings. In OneTeam for iPhone you can explicitly set the handle/resource in My Profile > Edit > Advanced > Resource. That string will differentiate your OT connection from your other connection ie. from Pidgin or iChat. So in my case I have .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)/oneteam-ipod, .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address)/oneteam-desktop etc. Also, in the same place you can set OT for iPhone resource priority. If you set resource priority to 0 on all of your devices/apps, you technically should receive incoming messages on all of them simultaneously.
