New partnership programme strengthens ProcessOne instant messaging solutions

ProcessOne helps customers and partners exchange ejabberd enhancements with other users and developers

Paris – 16th December 2007 – ProcessOne, a leading developer of high performance messaging solutions, today launched a new partnership programme to help key customers share their enhancements to the ejabberd server more easily. The programme will strengthen the existing ejabberd open source community and facilitate the continued development of this advanced instant messaging platform.

“All open-source technologies rely on contributions from users to enable their future development and enhancement, and ejabberd is no exception,” says Mickaël Rémond, CEO of ProcessOne. “Through our partnership programme, we aim to make it easier for our customers and partners to share their ejabberd technology insights and code, so that the core technology is continually enriched – to everyone’s advantage.”

Organisations that join ProcessOne’s partnership programme will benefit from:

  • Use of ProcessOne’s web site to publish their ejabberd extensions and enhancements
  • Easy access to code developed by other users
  • A forum for discussing experiences, ideas and challenges with other users
  • Knowledge that their developments will be tested and further enhanced by many other users

“Many leading organisations have selected ejabberd as their platform for high volume instant messaging applications, and these companies are keen to support the continued development of this highly flexible and robust technology,” says Rémond. ”With industry leaders gathering together in this partner programme to improve ejabberd, ejabberd is on the way to becoming a de facto reference for instant messaging infrastructures.”

ejabberd users welcome the new partnership programme

The first companies to join ProcessOne’s partnership programme include SAPO, the leading ISP in Portugal, and Meetic, the company behind the most visited dating site in Europe.

“SAPO has a strong open source culture,” says Celso Martinho, CTO of SAPO. “Using open source software enables us to be innovative, flexible and reactive in a global market where the absence of these qualities can seriously hurt your business. Our partnership with ProcessOne gives us the ability to share our product extensions with the worldwide ejabberd community and also benefit from the investment that other companies have made in developing ejabberd.”

SAPO has used the ejabberd server to improve the stability of its messaging server and develop a range of new integrated messaging services that add value for customers. “ejabberd has proven to be a carrier-class solution,” says Martinho. “It has provided us with a robust and scalable platform that we can trust for our messaging projects.”

Meetic has used ejabberd to build a platform capable of supporting high volumes of instant messages between individuals seeking to arrange dates. The ejabberd server was ideal for its business because it supports true clustering, is very flexible and could be easily adapted to fit the company’s existing IT infrastructure.

“ejabberd has become a very important technology for Meetic,” says Miguel Gomard, Meetic Lab director. “We have worked with ProcessOne to develop a number of enhancements to the ejabberd server, and our participation in ProcessOne’s partnership programme is a good way to make sure that these improvements are merged with core ejabberd technology.”
