# Alexey Shchepin, Erlang User of the Year 2006

Alexey Shchepin won the Erlang User of the Year 2006 award. He has been honoured for his work on [ejabberd XMPP server](https://www.process-one.net/en/ejabberd/), the High-Performance Instant Messaging system.

The Erlang User of the Year award has been presented during the [12th International Erlang/OTP User Conference](https://www.erlang.se/euc/06/?ref=process-one.net) that took place on 9th November 2006.

This is major recognition for the work Alexey achieved on [ejabberd XMPP server](https://www.process-one.net/en/ejabberd/). It’s a testimonial of the quality, performance and scalability of the software.
