Tweet.IM service now supports OAuth

Tweet.IM is a service that allows you to use your instant messaging client as a Twitter client. The service has been updated to support Oauth authentication mechanism, which does not require the user to provide their password to the service.

Oauth is supported in several ways:

  • You can use it during registration on the Twitter XMPP gateway through an XMPP client, by pointing your XMPP service discovery to twitter.tweet.im.
  • The simplest way to use OAuth is however to choose this authentication mechanism when you register directly from the Tweet.IM website.

Users can also opt to use the more traditional login and password based mechanism (only available through XMPP service discovery).

Thank you for your patience while we were implementing the OAuth support. This is a large feature to implement and to our knowledge Tweet.IM is the first instant messaging gateway for Twitter to support OAuth.
