Previously Tweet.im had a presence-based delivery mechanism, we have added two new delivery modes: “on” and “off”.

Thanks to users feedback, we have improved our Tweet.im service and gateway (available with IMgateway offering).

Two new modes have surfaced, that will enable you to bypass the presence-based mechanism. We named them “on” and “off”:

  • you can set your mode to “on” in order to receive all your tweets, in all conditions, not filtered by your presence
  • you can set your mode to “off” in order to receive no tweets at all, in that case your XMPP client is useful for posting only

These new modes make us call the presence-based delivery mechanism “auto”. So you can switch freely between these three modes.

As a reminder, there is still the ‘help’ command available in the Tweet.IM chat tab, which has seen those new functions added:

ts - Show your current tweet mode: on, off or auto.
tm mode - Set tweet mode where mode is:
on - always receive tweets;
off - never receive tweets;
auto - receive tweets depending on your current status.

Besides the new delivery modes, we have also added an error handling when sending direct messages to non-followers, which is not authorized.

We are looking forward to offer new useful features as incremental changes. Please feel free to feedback to us regarding your wishes for this service.
